Senior Physicist (6586)

A leading defense company is looking for a Senior Physicist to join its advanced photonics team and work on next-generation technologies in Integrated Photonics, Silicon Photonics, and Nanophotonics.

The role combines scientific research with hands-on engineering, taking photonic technologies from concept and simulation through experimental validation, fabrication, and integration into advanced electro-optical and laser systems.

Key Responsibilities

Lead R&D activities in integrated and nanophotonic technologies Design, simulate, characterize, and optimize photonic devices and optical subsystems Build and operate optical laboratory setups for characterization and validation Drive technology development from concept and architecture through implementation and integration Work with photonic foundries and fabrication partners, including design reviews and post-fabrication analysis Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across physics, optics, electronics, mechanics, algorithms, and systems engineering Mentor junior team members and contribute to future photonics technology development

Requirements

Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Photonics, Electro-Optics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Strong background in Integrated Photonics, Silicon Photonics, Nanophotonics, Metasurfaces, or Optical Device Design Hands-on experience with photonic simulation tools such as Lumerical and COMSOL Hands-on experience in experimental photonics and optical characterization Experience with photonic fabrication processes or working with photonic foundries
