Malware Research Team Leader (6716)

A cybersecurity company is looking for an experienced Malware Research Team Leader to lead a team of malware researchers while remaining hands-on with technical research. The role combines people management, mentoring and technical leadership with hands-on malware research and reverse engineering. Approximately 50% of the role is dedicated to people management and 50% to hands-on technical work. The position includes developing the team’s technical capabilities, maintaining high research quality, identifying emerging malware trends and threats, improving research methodologies and processes, and collaborating with teams across the organization. The role also involves recruiting and training team members, providing technical guidance, conducting focused malware research under tight timelines, and developing automation processes that support malware identification and analysis at scale.

Requirements: At least 2 years of people management experience, including managing at least 2 employees and experience with recruitment, onboarding and training. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following: Malware Research, Reverse Engineering or Penetration Testing. Strong experience with SOC and Incident Response investigations. Experience in Application Security. Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and the ability to trace execution flow through code. Familiarity with multiple programming languages, including Java, C/C++, JavaScript and Python. Experience with static and dynamic analysis tools such as JADX, Frida and network debugging tools. Strong understanding of network communications and protocols. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and hands-on approach. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a similar field
