GNC Engineer – Autonomous Aerial Systems

About the Role A young and rapidly growing drone technology company, developing advanced and intelligent unmanned aerial platforms, is looking for a GNC Engineer to join its core flight systems team. The company focuses on building unique, high-performance drones with cutting-edge autonomy and mission capabilities, combining deep engineering expertise with a fast-paced R&D environment. In this role, you will take a central part in developing the guidance, navigation, control, and estimation capabilities that drive next-generation aerial platforms. You will work on real-world systems, from algorithm design and implementation to integration, tuning, and flight testing, directly impacting system performance in operational environments.

Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms for unmanned aerial systems Develop and enhance core flight capabilities within a PX4-based autopilot, including advanced mission features Implement, tune, and validate control, guidance, and state estimation algorithms under real-world constraints Analyze flight logs, simulations, and test data to identify issues and drive performance improvements Collaborate with embedded, autonomy, and system engineering teams on integration and development Support flight testing activities, including planning, execution, and performance evaluation Contribute to simulation environments and validation workflows (SITL/HITL) Provide technical input and support within a multidisciplinary engineering team

Requirements B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field 2+ years of experience in GNC, flight control, robotics, or autonomous systems Strong understanding of control theory, navigation, estimation, and flight dynamics Hands-on experience with autopilot systems, UAVs, or flight control software Strong programming skills in C/C++ Experience working in Linux environments Proficiency in Python for analysis, simulation, or tooling Familiarity with PX4 or similar autopilot frameworks Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary R&D environment

Advantages Experience with Kalman filters, sensor fusion, or advanced navigation algorithms Experience with ROS/ROS2 Background in embedded systems or microcontrollers Experience with simulation and validation environments Hands-on experience with drones, including integration or flight testing Experience in technical leadership or mentoring
